How a SmartLocker System Works
See how our SmartLockers are most frequently used.
Assigned Lockers
The administrator grants one or more employees or customers access to the smart locker system and assigns them a designated locker.
At the lockers, the user utilizes a verification method such as swiping or tapping their badge, or using another identification method such as a PIN to authenticate their identity.
Once the user’s identity is confirmed, the designated locker automatically unlocks and pops open, allowing them to borrow or return items.
The user can freely take or leave items within the locker and subsequently close the locker securely when finished. They can repeatedly use the locker as they wish as long as the administrator allows access.
Retail Selling or Controlled Inventory Access
The user establishes their identity or payment method by swiping or tapping their badge, or in retail applications, using their credit card.
The user chooses the specific product they need, triggering the corresponding bay to open automatically.
The user retrieves the desired item(s) and, if applicable, may optionally be prompted to enter the quantity taken or an associated job code for tracking purposes.
The user securely closes the locker completing the transaction.
Use and Return of an Asset
The user utilizes a verification method such as swiping or tapping their badge, or using another identification method such as a PIN to authenticate their identity.
Then, the user chooses the specific item they need, triggering the corresponding bay to open. In Use and Return of an Asset, locker bays only contain one item, such as a tool.
After utilizing the item, the user employs their ID method again and selects the bay to which they wish to return the item. They then return the item to that bay.
The smart locker system records the usage, so reports can be run on which items need maintenance, such as inspection or calibration.
Designing a SmartLocker Installation
There are hundreds of ways to deploy smart lockers. Configure your lockers to work in tandem with a master vending machine, or keep your installation locker-only. As a standalone configuration, our system can handle a bank of lockers with 120 bays. Or, if you add a vending machine, you can configure your lockers with up to 60 bays. The number of lockers you link together in your installation is flexible and based on your needs.
Also, if you opt for a standalone locker configuration, you simply need one bay door to contain the brain of your system, which will include the peripherals such as a PIN pad or touchscreen where users interact.
